Another analyst praises possibility of Microsoft lay offs

True or not (and there are indications the rumors might not be true) all the talk of forthcoming Microsoft lay offs seems to be encouraging Wall Street analysts to essentially call for Microsoft job cuts.

In a report today, Goldman Sachs’ Sarah Friar says lay offs at Microsoft are “likely” and would be “good for the shares.”

Intel, Adobe team up for Flash for TVs

Intel and Adobe Systems on Monday announced that they're working to adapt Adobe's Flash media technology, widespread on PCs, to work in TV-focused devices.

The two companies will work on fine-tuning the Flash Player and Flash Lite for Intel's Media Processor CE 3100. The goal is for Intel to ship the first CE 3100 chip with Flash Lite support before the middle of this year.

Ahead of Macworld, Microsoft again says Macs cost more

Microsoft elevates server unit, promotes Muglia

Microsoft started off its new-year executive shuffling by promoting longtime Server and Tools unit head Bob Muglia to President, a title he shares with Entertainment boss Robbie Bach and business software chief Stephen Elop.

It's a title elevation for Muglia, whose responsibilities remain the same. It also reflects the growing importance of the server unit, which accounted for $13 billion in revenue in the most recent fiscal year, now making up fully a fifth of Microsoft's total sales.
